My Dad will be atTewkesbury medieval fair at the weekend making and trying to sell armour. Good prices for all your armour needs. If you are there, go say hi and show an interest, it will make his day. Thanks

Your dad should get himself up to Leeds today where SaxonRider will no doubt be happy to make a purchase.

Probably his aluminium "costume" greaves if just playing or full on steel if going for it 😉

I'm looking for some armour that will really make the battlefield come alive. What do you think your dad would recommend? Maybe 27.5" pauldrons?

Well this is a timely PSA for sure. I was just watching that horrible Arthur - Legend of the Sword film last night and as terrible as the film was it did inspire me to order a snazzy gambeson style leather jacket so I could dress like Charlie Hunman's Arthur.

Some mail would really complete the look.

Bespoke and tailored (other than his plate which is a little more difficult to make "slim flit").

Trust me there is no requirement for "slim fit" from the posters here.

So it's not chinese catalogue mail then? Do he live [s]in[/s] within a 500 mile radius of Hebden?

I now have a mental image of the great and good of STW on their bikes wearing chain mail

resurrecting the chainmail industry and bringing the last factory back to life before outsourcing it somewhere [s]cheaper[/s] better.

What's the kickstarter address?

In all seriousness, Tewkesbury medieval fair (or should that be fayre?) is a top day out.

We went last year, and I especially loved the falconry display where the star of the show, a peregrine, circled the chappy with his big leather glove, and then promptly f****d off into the distance, not to be seen again 🙂

Definitely not Chinese import. He even has a machine to make the rings himself.
His full facers may be a little bit too Gnar for BPW.

at least label them as slim fit so we can feel good about ourselves.

Straight and relaxed fit for the major lardarses.

Off at a slight tangent… If you get the chance, go to a joust. We saw one at Pendennis last year and it was brutal. To quote Sir Guy deMartin “They’re not messers”. The event was eventually won by this lady [img] [/img] who left the other finalist too badly damaged to continue.

I’m hoping to see one again on at Carisbooke Castle in August http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/whats-on/the-joust-battle-for-good-carisbrooke-22-08-2017/ . The ground really does shake when they gallop at each other.

There are all sorts of Knight events throughout the summer. I’ll be going to the one at Beeston on July 23rd. They won’t be jousting, but they’ll still be beating the crap out of each other.

Oh, and the Hebden comments. The truth is far more dull than the speculation.

Love a good medieval fair - unfortunately I've been roped into Pride this week.

Chainmail has always been my favorite armour - much more agile that plate.

The most STW thread ever.

Not quite yet.
We haven't even started on barding for the bikes yet.
Chanfrons for the forks and peytrals for the down tubes.

Not real though is it? Just play fighting. Cool to watch though. There was a reality TV show a few yours back called Full Metal Jousting which was real, competitive jousting. Now that was brutal. Shame they only did one season. Maybe Red Bull could pick it up!!

This lot were going for it. The final was decided after one knight was struck in the armpit with enough force to warrant someone having to help him out of his armour.

The stuff on foot is a bit tame, but the people of horseback were shattering lances and denting armour.

Admittedly they don't finish each other off with a mace, but the impacts are still pretty big.

No, but I've got one in XXL - good for waving in the direction of podium maidens

That looks like fun, I think I'll take a run up to Tewkesbury on Sunday, it's a town I've never been to, so this looks like a good excuse to visit.
Just had a look on the satnav, about an hour's drive, even though it's twice as far as Bristol, which takes at least as long!
