I'm holding out for the container-class tickets on the Troon-Kent gas barge 🙂
No gas barge from Troon but speak to Glennan and you might get a ride to NI on the timber barge.
That's a handy site that, have need to get into the sea properly or Atlantic if possible.

Tip of the iceberg...
(That said, there seems a lot of noise over Calmac being poor and yet the 'on time' and 'running/get you there' figures remain strong. I am not an islander however so am not the best person to judge these things. That said, we have had one sailing cancelled as it was sinking in front of us(!) in 13 years of using them a few times a year for holidays.)

Not yet - but when the the Arran Ferry hybrid ferry comes into service and starts running from Troon.... there are no refueling facilities so fuel will be coming by boat from Kent
Don't be expecting the Cally Isles to return anytime soon either.... Off to Belfast soon for a very extended drydock. Hull steel is like tracing paper.....
Slight hijack....
May half term, no vehicle only bikes. Planning to head to some small islands having done many others with campervan. Tiree, coll, colonsay, jura....
Do we need to book? Would prefer to keep it last minute to consider weather etc...
