cupboard full of the mugs you get with easter eggs and comedy mugs from various christmas and birthdays. i've even got a ladybird 'history of cycling' mug that holds about a pint of hottychoccy.

why would you even consider paying for mugs when they're thrust upon you in the chocolate seasons?

Sadly, these were purchased before the offer was available.

A pain I must live with everyday 😥

why would you even consider paying for mugs when they're thrust upon you in the chocolate seasons?

Because they are in fancy colours.

I found one of these left by the shed a few weeks ago...

[img] [/img]

slightly odd as none of the neighbours said they'd put it there and nobody else should be able to get into the garden!

Don't worry, Phil. When you're older, you will understand good design.

I'm with Phil - our cupboards are overflowing with mugs and I don't think one has been bought by us. A combination of easter eggs, comedy gifts, and freebies from/through work all of which the missus hates. Fortunately she also appreciates the fact we can't afford fancy mugs so puts up with the rubbish ones.

Those ones up there ^^^ look very lovely, but 8 quid in the sale for one mug?! 10 of those would get me a set of new UST tyres 🙂

Does it safely hold hot beverages?
Does it have a handle?
2 ticks and it's job done for me, actually my favourite tea mug doesn't actually have a handle anymore since my eldest dropped it.

or were you talking about arty farty look nice design* as opposed to actually does stuff design**?

*smiley for binners et al
**if it keeps your brew hotter for longer I may retract my statement but in the (considerably lengthy) bumf on that page it doesn't mention brew longevity I think I'm safe

What you lot with too many mugs need is a teenage son. That'll soon reduce the mug capacity in the house to 'number of people requiring a mug of tea'-1.

No, I agree with you - I have white bone china mugs at home. I don't mind ones with some patterning, but prefer predominantly white with of course the obligatory white interior.

I got a Marmite mug for Christmas.

To be honest though, the best mugs are the ones that you can fit a pint of coffee in - essential morning equipment.

Most of my mugs came from gigs; a Portishead one, an Elbow one that looks like a Penguin book, several Kate Rusby ones, plus an STW bucket, an X-Files bucket, a Buffy one... 😀

Trying to wean myself of amazon (tax dodgers) but now I want some.

Plus my old one is a bit past it...
