Good time to watch a dystopia that's actually considerably worse than the world is now.

Excellent! We loaned the box set out years ago and I've been wanting to watch it again.

Really good series.

Well, if you watch the prequel, Caprica, you'll learn that they were given the personality of a very angry and frightened teenage girl who is lashing out at those who wronged her.

I spent most of one winter sat on a Turbo watching BSG, 3 episodes per session for 2 hours.

I wished they had carried on with Caprica. The first half started really slow but then picked up the second half of the series

Will they be showing Razor as well?

I have the lot on iTunes but Razor isn’t available and fleshes out the Pegasus storyline

Great series, but tied with Lost for worst ending ever.

Watched the DVD box set in lockdown already, had been around ten years since we first watched it. I ripped it to my NAS as we went. Unfortunately doing so exposed me to several spoilers I'd completely forgotten about. Just small ones like the identity of the final cyclon. DOH!

Starbuck and Starbuck in Starbucks..

That's the greatest thing I've ever seen on the Internet today.

Great series, but tied with Lost for worst ending ever.

No arguments there.

Katee Sackoff as Starbuck was brilliant. The ending wasn't too bad, seen worse.

Is there a specific order of watching the whole thing? Do I need to start with Caprica? Not heard of that before. Thanks all

The first 2 series were excellent...really gripping stuff but sadly the last 2 series didn't continue in that vein. There was much dissention with the writers I think and this lead to the series losing its edge later on. But saying this it was still bloody good TV dispite a weak ending.

Caprica was a prequel released after BSG. So, no.

Now I remember why I disliked this, the "supergenius" is the dimmest character. And nobody needs that many curtains in space.

So, the Cylons have a plan, but it seems like a pretty half-assed one.

Well, I'm conflicted. Watched the first episode (1 of 2 of the mini series). Its quite bad but I feel the need to carry on 🙂

Acting is very varied, from reasonable (cylon number 6, which is a bit ironic) to utterly abysmal (Boomer, chief, Starbuck...etc)

Other weird bits keep putting me off:-

Female officers are referred to as Sir. Except the president, who's a Ma'am. Except when people call her Sir too.

Frack! as a swear word. On a par with Neighbours and rack-off!

The upgraded cylons are a neat idea though.

I'm going in for episode 2! Wish me luck.

Great series, but tied with Lost for worst ending ever.

Lost never had an actual plan with a proper ending, BG, IIRC, fell victim to the scourge that is US ratings and advertisers being influenced by the opinion of a bunch of Middle Americans, the Nielsen Ratings I believe. It killed off many quality series far too early, like Pushing Daisies, Firefly, Dead Like Me, etc.

Frack! as a swear word.

Try using the actual word that ‘frack’ represents on here, see how far you get... 🙄

Is rack off not real? Wait, is Neighbours not real?

Is australia even real? How far does this go?

Neighbours definitely real as I saw Charlene once. And Joe Mangle.

Firefly was killed off by Fox who never understood it in the first place. They showed it out of order, gave it an unpopular timeslot and demanded a mediocre "action" pilot be shot at the 11th hour. The advertising for the show was misrepresentative - it was billed almost as a farce - and they almost shitcanned the entire thing in the first place because they didn't approve of Wash and Zoe's interracial marriage.

Northwind asked> How far does this go?

Reality isn't real. Though I'm not suggesting that's an end point.

I thought it was great but wasn't it also impacted by writers strike at the time? I think it struggled after that which contributed to the bad ending.

Didn't they move to Queensland?
