Amazon have an amazing deal on the Røde NTH-100 headphones for Cyber Monday, £69 instead of £150. Now, to be fair, it was possible to find them cheaper than the maximum price, I paid £130, or thereabouts for mine, and they were worth every penny of that, but £69 is silly cheap!
They’re designed for studio use, so very clean and balanced sound-wise, there’s no onboard electronics, they’re cabled, and the cable can be swapped from one earpiece to the other for convenience, and a shorter cable obtained for use with a phone with a DAC and/or adapter. The earpieces can be locked in place once adjusted.
Røde are Australian, and produce a lot of studio equipment, like mikes and mixers, so they know what they’re doing.
I'm looking for a new pair for drumming with my electronic kit, so they need to block ambient noise (not talking ANC here, just can't be open backed). How do these stack up? Imagine hitting plastic cymbals with a stick, you want to remove that kind of noise.
Edit: ordered some, can send back if no good, but still interested in the question above
They look really nice, looking for a closed pair to go with my open AKG701’s so I don’t disturb people sitting close by.
Will get a pair to try. The Shure Aonics look good too but never seen either in real life.
@CountZero I took a punt on these yesterday after seeing this and I'm mighty, MIGHTY impressed with them so thanks for posting up about them. My, until now now only, other headphones are Grado SR80's (open backed) and I've always been disappointed with closed 'phones... until now!
I was tempted by these as quite like to have some wired for my stereo. But don’t think I can justify as well as my Bose quiet comfort 35 which I presume would be just as good sound wise if plugged in?

Never assume Bose have good sound quality - if they do Bose were just lucky as they normally have overblown bass as their minimum infringement on sensible sound quality.
I got mine today, quite different from my Sennheiser and Audio Technica. I think the hi mids aren't as brash as the Sennheiser, but maybe they're a bit too low there? Nice quality and the fit is excellent for me. Decent oomph for my kick when drumming. Will be keeping them.
Good shout. I have loads of pro mic kit. Its excellent and made in Australia.
