My tarp and bivi should arrive today, bring on the bike packing!!
How good is a tarp alone when you've no trees or features around to suspend it from. I AM going bikepacking this year, and reckon a tarp and bivvi are best option at present, but a bit unsure on how to actually get the best out of a tarp.
I can see me using it as a crap duvet..........
you can always use bits of the the bike itself as a 'pole' for the tarp
do a google image search for bike packing tarp..
should give you a good idea.. 🙂
*havent ever been bike packing myself.. yet.. its on the to do list though!
core: go here and read the Top Tarp Tips pdf - handy instructions and piccies for using your bike to support the tarp.
Yep - you'll want some cord and maybe clips and a pole of some description (you can use your bike for this!) if there are no trees.
thanks that PSA just cost me £100.
Bargain!
Core, have a look at the tarp tipos on the alpkit website(down the right hand side) it gives you loads of ideas of how to use trees, poles, bikes etc to rig a decent shelter
Personally I find a bivvy bag/tarp is an excellent lightweight solution
