Justi popped into my local Aldi - Workstands which were £34.99 on sale for £7.99. Bought one just for the sake of it - I'll probably give it to someone.

These aren't the greatest of stands - the screw that secures the angle of the clamp is hard to tighten enough - but they do still do a reasonable job & will hold a 25kg E-MTB.

For 8 quid you can't go too far wrong ...

Great as a 2nd stand for servicing forks etc.

Just got one from Congleton Aldi..... never owned one before and can literally do zero bike maintenance myself. Seems like a good 2024 resolution will be to learn to do something! (....and to actually ride again!)

Good stuff! There are plenty of good vids on YouTube showing you how to do every job.

Start with something straightforward like indexing your gears and go from there.

Then get out and ride.

A couple of years ago I'd virtually given up until I set a new year resolution of riding my bike once a week - which I did.

2023 has been one of my best MTB years ever. At 58. 😁

They should be knurled on the bit that adjusts the angle, if you rough sand the plastic clamp it should improve the grip.

Good stands though, well worth the money.

I don't think they're running a cycling promotion, it's their end of year sale, where they clear out middle isle products that haven't sold out previously.

Plenty left in Petersfield for any QECP area locals.

There were plenty in The Isle of Shite in Hereford. No prices on them though.

My cheap stand has now been demoted to bike wash duties after 15 years of service. Mine has plenty of extra bolts drilled through it to stop it slipping, but for the money and for the occasional home mechanic they are perfectly fine.

£7.99? You was robbed.

I have been putting together a starter bike tool box for a friend's son.

Passed an Aldi yesterday and remembered this PSA. Popped in to find two, both with very tatty boxes and no price ticket on the shelf.

A fella said he could take it to the till to price check it for me...

Four of your British pounds!

His colleague smelled a rat and told him to check with the manager. He did and it was genuine.

I felt properly rewarded for wanting to help my mate's kid out.

Merry Christmas all.

Indeed - it seems I was! 😀

Good deal though - that'll get him started. Well done.👍
