Could be a harrowing, but fascinating documentary about a film made in 1945 and never broadcast.
Recording set. Preparing to be depressed.
Shoah is on tomorrow on BBC4, or the first 4 hours at least.
Good Call Sir.
However, I'll be recording this and Shoah.. Having watched the recent depictions of the Holocaust on the Beeb I'm feeling both tender and bloody angry.
😕
Keep meaning to give Shoah another go. Think I got distracted after about 30 hours in last time.
This is shocking
and horrific
Sheer evil....
Unbelievable footage
I went to Kraków once and we took a trip to auschwitz it's unreal the actual size of the place it's so large it's incomprehensible what happened there
This is an important film for everyone to watch, no matter how difficult, if only to show the extent of evil mankind is capable of...
Can you watch it online anywhere? Not got a tellybox.
Online channel 4 live
Absolutely horrific. 😯 You read about all the things that went on but seeing footage like this. ****ing terrible.
Truly awful, the evil humans are capable of is staggering.

We are capable of good and evil in equal measure..
That was hard to watch
Tbh had to watch something else for a while
Tragic and depressing.
Superb programming.
A lot of respect back to C4 for no ad breaks.

Absolutely. Agreed Lazybike..but didn't see much good on show during the documentary save for liberation I suppose.
The politics at the end were an eye opener.
And people still deny this happened.
Many survivors stories have incidents of amazing human sacrifice and kindness in them.
Still hard to grasp the number of deaths involved.
🙁
It's now on 4oD now.
Was a harrowing watch, should be compulsory in schools. You can't get your head around it.
My R.E. teacher at secondary school was a priest and he showed us footage from concentration camps and Hitler watching piles of bodies being bulldozed into mass graves.Very harrowing but as morecash said it should be compulsory in schools. He also showed photos of aborted fetuses for which he got a b**locking off the headmaster.I can't stand religion but they were certainly the most interesting lessons i did at that school. In another lesson he told us what was involved in exercising peoples houses, all interesting stuff as a 13 year old lad
Harrowing stuff. It definitely needs to be seen though and not hidden away. The fact that people knew this was happening and didn't do anything is the frightening thing for me. Then again they did make the locals tour the camps, perhaps they didn't know the extent of it?
There was a good doc on more4 ? Afterwards about why the allies didn't try stopping the genocide sooner,

In Israel I believe school trips to Auschwitz are pretty much compulsory.
I agree that schools in other countries should not shy away from the subject.
