If it’s a main line excursion, it’ll likely be £335 each if they are eating. Typical prices of one day mainline excursions are: 1st Class Dining, £300-350, 1st Class with snacks, £230ish, 2nd Class £120-150.
It doesnt matter what the loco is, the prices are similar whether its diesel or steam.
We do one a year. £300 each from Lockerbie to Oban and return this year in August. Service is perfect, and far too much good quality food all day long.

Real Time trains is the site to get train info and times, though, I’ve just had a look, and there is no info about the Tour. This may be due to idiots in the past trespassing to get a better photo. I suspect they have not published the times and train data yet, and maybe won’t. The best I can see is it was due to leave Euston at 06.40, but that could have changed, Northampton is about 70 miles away, it doesnt travel fast, so around 8am would be my guess for Northampton station.

I had a scan of Real Times and couldn't spot anything unfortunately. Another website said they didn't publish times pretty much to stop idiots being on tracks to get photos. 8am is probably a good guess. Maybe I'll head out to one of the bridges between Northampton and Milton Keynes with a chair and just wait. Pretty sure I won't be alone.

Gets into Nuneaton station about the same time as the dark chocolate mints.
It's a remarkably hush hush affair due to spotters on the track

Yes, that’s it, it has been added overnight. Cue the headlines on Sunday “Train line blocked by trainspotters”.
Which is not right, 'train spotters’ are not particularly interested in it, it is the general public who cause the problems by trespassing, endangering themselves. Train enthusiasts, generally, have a bit more common sense, and stay off the line side.

Oh that's interesting. Should be able to see it from my house again.

Last time it passed I was in the garage I thought it was the neighbour sawing wood until the penny dropped and I managed to run upstairs to see it chugging by 🙂

I shall wave as you pass. Look out for a middle aged man with a grey beard. Can't imagine there will be many of them out watching it.

They've changed the times for that train since it was posted.

Initially it was leaving Euston at 7:30am.

Now I have no idea !

Well, it seems the flying Scottie has just pulled the royal train over the North Yorkshire Moors Railway into Pickering.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-65876753

Wish I'd known it's only a few miles up the road. The wife works out of Pickering, she's off duty today, but the news of the King's visit came via her work chat group.

As soon as it pulled in apparently another train blocked the view from opposite platform.

Lots of angry spotters grumbling into their camera lenses.

Indeed. My best man is now health and safety manager on the NYMR and has been posting pictures of him in the cab of the engine, meeting our head of state etc.

Apparently it was sunny.
