On a whim I picked up a used PS3 today, to play the platform exclusives that I can't get on Microsoft's finest. Snagged Heavy Rain (two pounds fifty!) and The Last Of Us.

What else do I need to consider getting?

Hmm. Seems that when a game update is downloading you can't do anything with the console other than watch a progress bar. And you need PS+ for half of the sync options, what zarking lunacy is this?

*goes to make food*

Yeah, I was going to ask about Uncharted. I played, um, the one that totally isn't copyright infringing Tomb Raider on the PS4 and liked it. Worth starting with the first one and working through the series?

Portal 2 isn't an exclusive, I've already got that on Team Green.

I got Uncharted something, Drake's Deception, for a gift one Christmas. It was fantastic but surprisingly short. I completed it in a couple of months and I am a very part time gamer these days. Only play for an hour or so at a time.

Also get GTAV and then play with me online 🙂

I’ve had one for a couple of weeks it’s great. Got heavy rain too, only played up to just after the credits so far, but I can see myself getting sucked in. Got an old f1 game and gt5 too.

Need to get a GTA, probably 5

Went to CEX and spent £7.20 on 4 games including Resistance for the princely sum of 50p! Last gen consoles are ace.

Last of us was brilliant. Enjoyed Wolfenstein as well.

Few leftfield '5 mins spare' suggestions:

Journey

Flower

Wipeout HD/Wipeout Fusion

Uncharted series plus GTAV are givens. GTAV online sessions often hilarious and/or plain weird. ( PS I often hangout on R*ckford Plaza roof wearing some questionable threads, so drop by say h if you see someone up therei. Oh, be careful of proximity mines.)

* Edit: anyone played 'flOw'? It caught my attention but never delved further.

Got GTAV on the 360 - unlikely to pick it up on the PS TBH.

I don't think it's an exclusive, but here's how to play Hitman.

Again, Xbox.

The Last of Us just kicked me in the feels inside of the opening credits, so that's a good start.

I'd not played PS games for a long time but ended up playing The Last Of Us last winter and finished it. It was so good that I've just started it again this winter!

Is this where you buy a console, but cannot afford the games to play on it, due to the post-Brexit vote weak pound? 😆

Go totally old school and download the original PS version of Kula World.

It's surprising how much fun can be had with a beach ball.

what sucks is that you cannot play ps3 games on your ps4 (if you bought download versions on ps3).

as midlifecrisis said ni no kuni is bloody awesome (a studio ghibli game and it shows).

damn you sony for not making ps3 backwards compatible like xbox do.

Hmmm. So how much would I need to spend to buy a second hand PS3 and a few games to get me started...?

I paid £50 for the console, a couple of controllers, two 'wand' things and a couple of other odd accessories. Oh, and a bunch of games I don't want, I think there's like six versions of Tiger Woods' in there. Seller was a friend of a friend.

Heavy Rain was £2.50 and TLOU was £8 from CEX.

Red Dead definitely. I bought a cheap used PS3 a couple of years ago purely for GTA5, and got RDR from the online store and enjoyed it nearly as much. Almost finished it but the game went corrupt or something, can't load it, but I'll hang on for the next instalment - very limited time for that kind of thing these days.

PSN exclusives worth playing

RAIN
The unfinished swan
Dishonoured
GRID
Little Big Planet
Uncharted
Killzone 2
Infamous 2

The Last of us is the greatest console game ever made BTW. Good choice.

After being a hardcore COD player Last of Us did my head in with really odd controls (probably muscle memory) .

There's a 4?!?!

Skyrim is my fave, still play it in fact, the Portals are great, and Ratchet and Clank were always a lot of fun

Oh, and check out 'Limbo'- very short but it has a simple but effective look, unique and quite chilling!

Dead Space 2, Arkham and a load of games I'd forgotten about...

Methinks I'll have to pick up a PS3 seeing as the 4 is still pricey.

Did anyone mention

[img] [/img]

About a tenner on fleabay. No amount of money for five insanely good games, both Half Life 2 and Portal were voted "Game Of The Year' back in the day. You know you want to booby-trap a head-crab one more time...

There's nothing there that appeals I don't think, but thank you anyway, that's a kind offer.
