I don't play the PS much and haven't bought a game in ages, I have a few laying about to trade in and have given up looking for a decent rally game so am looking at the following:

Final Fantasy XII
Resi Evil 6
Diablo III
Battlefield 4

All very different I know but are any of them outstandingly excellent or bad?

I Play very little almost exclusively FIFA online and BF4

I love Bf4 online but prepare to get your arse handed to you untill you level up as the games been out a while and most of the players have all the weapons now.

Well worth it though - i have clocked over 200 hours in the last year in snatched 2 hour sessions and all day rain fests when she is out - Its a good Release !!

Oh yes I remember getting BF3 a couple of months late and spending hours just trying to level out my kill/death ratio, playing through single player first helps though.

Keen to try diablo as I loved the Icewind Dale and Baldur's gate games all those years ago, may be disappointed though, rose tinted glasses and all that..

I imagine you've tried it, but I found WRC4 very playable, as a fan of rally games. Not the best, but not bad.

I haven't tried WRC4, I read that it was bad in a few reviews and didn't bother trying after having wasted my money on all other rally games bought for ps3. Is it realistic enough? ie like the old colin mcrae pre dirt or arcade like dirt and older WRC games? No retro cars i see.. can't have a rally game without an old escort and a delta..

If you're getting Diablo, go for the "ultimate evil" edition, as it's got the expansion pack with it which is supposed to make all the difference.

I enjoyed FF12, though it is a bit marmite. Very linear story, but it had me engrossed.

A friend has a proper gaming race seat - something like this

Silly money but he never goes out (well Christmas Eve he does, but that's it) and he just plays car games all night every night (yes he is single).

He says it is utterly amazing and completely transforms car racing games (as you'd hope I guess).

If you taught him to masturbate you'd probably change his life...

For on road car fun I just jump in the real thing, Loved the old McRae games, shame it's gone all redbull now... Think BF4'll be getting my money this time, hopefully it won't take over my life for a month like GTA 5 did!

I do miss having a steering wheel for racing games, as on the PC back in the day. I've seen some that you sort of sit on, but I've always assumed they'd be shit for use whilst sat on the sofa. Anyone care to correct me?

In true Singletrack form may I suggest one that isn't on your list.

Skyrim, lost me a big chunk of life very quickly.

You can get a stand for them these days; wheel pedals & stand just shy of £300.

Red Dead Redemption (GoTY edition). You're welcome.

Shame he'll have to sell it when he buys a PS4.

Given he was happy to spend that much first time round, he'll probably be happy to do it again.
