Now, if a source from Billboard is to be believed, it’s emerged that Prophets of Rage is actually a the name of a new supergroup featuring Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk, Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real.
Zoinks!
Welcome to last week 😀
But yeah, sounds pretty promising. Wonder what Zac is up to these days and whether he will join in at some point?
Get down for the prophets of rage
I shit you not but Chiefgrooveguru of this parish has been helping Tim commerford of RATM get his sound right for this.
Chief is sworn to secrecy, but I'm not !
Is Joe Cocker doing guest vocals?
the bad news for them is that, unless they change to a less shit name, I'm oot
What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
IANWS
Oi, Kimbers, shhhhhhh!!! But it is well exciting...
the bad news for them is that, unless they change to a less shit name, I'm oot
Nothing wrong with it, I mean, it could be White Denim... 🙄
Welcome to last week
It's CFH's shoes. They're so heavy they've created their own timezone.... -1 week GMT
Oi, you leave the Quo out of this !White Denim...
😉
Was covered here a few days ago 😛 .
No Zack De La Rocha though, who makes the sound of Rage unique IMO. Apart from Morellos riffs...

Yeah cos they're really giving a **** what you think.
do you mean they are, or they aren't ? I can't quite tellYeah cos they're really giving a **** what you think
🙄
as an aside - fantastic long and detailed article in the Washington Post this week about the making of walk this way:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/lifestyle/walk-this-way/
It would be good if they did something with someone like Chris Cornell.
Ooh, wait a minute, they've already done that!
Anyway, why not. The early 90s were awesome with a bit of Rage and Cypress Hill banging out at student night! Bring it on I say...
Chuck D is a good replacement for Zack De La Rocha (although its a proper shame he needed replacing)
It's a "supergroup" so inevitably will be less than the sum of it's part and disappoint people (although that in part due to unrealistic expectations).
On paper Audioslave should have been the greatest band in the history of rock, but they weren't. Similarly, this will also be less good than the best of all its constituent elements.
I'm sure I'll give it a listen though

Highly under rated band, IMO. Cochise is amaze balls!!
Could be worse, at first glance I assumed the name meant RATM and LostProphets had joined forces...the bad news for them is that, unless they change to a less shit name, I'm oot
I know what you mean. I even do it myself. Don't listen to it for ages, then when I do I wonder why I don't listen to them more often...Highly under rated band
They're playing the Whiskey a Go Go tonight in L.A. $20 entry, proceeds to charity.
Would quite like to be there!
Ditto. I've known about this for a few weeks now, ever since we had a rather surprising phone call at work... I really want to hear how Tim's new bass rig sounds, not least because we made the three cabs!
Yeah but do they go up to eleven?
Looks like a seriously nice set up that.
Can confirm, that bass rig was used and it's about all you can here in this video...
Slightly better video...
And another
Definitely better when the live instruments are playing.
Admittedly, I don't know their stuff apart from the obvious but while I see how PE and RATM fit together I'm not sure what Cypress Hill are doing there?

Cypress Hill's eponymous album was a huge influence on Rage's first album - they used to listen to it when driving to the studio. And B-real jammed with them in the early days, that jam turning into a track on Black Sunday. And then there's the track on Renegades, and so on. He's not been as overtly political in the past but he's a great fit musically.
Ooh, new PE video's a bit controversial:
So Prophets of Rage have recorded an album, it's just in the final stages of mixing and mastering. I am really bloody excited about it - I know supergroups are rarely as good as one hopes but I think this could be different - in many ways it isn't a supergroup but instead RATM with two new vocalists/lyricists and plenty of things to rage about!
Sounds great. I really enjoyed the Street Sweeper Social Club E.P's and thought Boots Riley, who is a brilliant rapper, brought some much needed humour to proceedings. Glad he kept The Coup going instead though. RATM are the reason I picked up playing bass in my teens, likes Chic with attitude 8)
So, I got to play Timmy C's rig before the London gig on Monday. OMFG AWESOMENESS. Two minutes pretending I'm a rockstar. 😉
I saw PE, Eric B and LL at Hammersmith in 87 that was a pretty memorable event and a bit "lively" that's for sure.
Chuck D wrote some heavy lyrics.
