I like a slice of toast or 2, proper bread of course, chunky, and slightly larger than your average loaf. I also like an even toasting over the bread.
What I don't like is having to turn the toast half way through only to still get an uneven toasting.
So STW, what toaster for a large slice?

Use the grill.

Or buy a Mother Pride extra thick Scottish plain loaf and stick in a long slot toaster.

Russell Hobbs do a 2 slice that covers you.

30 quid.

My pre-requisit was to get mother's pride pan bread in.

Cut it in half and use a 4-slot toaster.

This is an age-old problem and it is specifically because Warburton's do a "toastie" loaf that does not fit in any toaster known to man aside from the long-slot ones that are supposed to be able to accommodate two slices in each slot. In the event that there's no normal-sized Hovis on the shelves I I'll buy Warbie's and just lop the top half-inch off so that it fits "lying down."

Does Warburtons "toastie" fit in that Russell Hobbs Dorchester?

Warburton’s do a “toastie”

It's a pale substitute once you've tried Warbies Super Toastie

two long slot toaster, fits 4 smallish slices or 2 big ones, like a lovely bit of bloomer or even baguette

Well regular tall bread does height wise on its end

Motherpride fits in on its side. So it's longer than a standard toaster.

Can't say I've used Warburton's toastie in it but without going to a quad slice toaster I doubt you'll stand a better chance

We’ve got a Russell Hobbs toaster that’ll take crumpets, and a Morphy Richards one that’ll take four slices of various sliced bread, including multi-seed and Warburton’s Toasty, although probably not four slices at once.

That'll be a 'no' then. (-:

You mean plain loaf? I've not seen a MP pan loaf for years!

Ditto the Russell Hobbs suggestion above. It was the only one I could find that would fit bread from a panasonic bread maker (i.e. taller than a shop bought loaf).

Ours say Model 18953 on the bottom.

we got a Dualit 4 slice stainless steel job that is going strong after a good 12 years or so.

got the little sandwich cage thing so you can make toasties in it but i also use it for thick stuff so it doesn't get stuck.

love toast.

Seemingly discontinued, current model looks to be 1878x where x is the colour code.

There was a specific Warburton's toaster once...

Edit: apparently there still is:

it was more a we dont eat warburtons toastie bread .....but do use normal bread.

if someone provides dimensions of their bread ill easy check what clearance there is above normal bread. - because it does have more room above the heed of the slice.

Morphy Richards one that’ll take four slices of various sliced bread,

we had that one prior to this for the same reason - as Nobeerpoints out Plain mothers pride.

it died with a bang and a flash and direct replacements were not availible it had been discontinued.

Happy user of Braun HT550 long slot toaster here. I've had it few years now and can't fault it.

Magimix fits real bread but is pricey. Very nice though and replaceable elements. Makes a nice ding when it pops up.

Dualit overrated IMO, the timer thing is annoying

Love my dualit. Works Well and the Timer means you know when it’s going to finish. No guessing how long. Repairable if needed too. Save skipping cheapo toasters.

Mine’s now 26 years old and still perfect. Probably the oldest electrical item in the house by about 20 years lol

If you're feeling a bit rich . . . make that very rich.

Grill it. A friend recommended I get an Aga for perfect toast but I don’t have the cords or bright trousers to go with one

I’ve used a classic Dualit for the past 12 years. Works with most sizes of bread. Keeps the toast warm by not popping up. Simple timer makes it easy to hear when it’s done and makes under or over-toasting a controlled thing.

I used to hate Dualits when I worked in the NHS but got fed up of cheap and not so cheap (I’m looking at you Tefal thick and thin) failing and being unrepairable. Now I find popups weird.

if you want maximum toast then maybe one of these? And cheaper than the Italian one above.
