Day turned on it's head, once again. Yet I'm the one who has been warned not to tell him to "**** right off"

*Not my son, he's only 11.

Not happening.

Just general thoughtlessness, followed by everyone (except me) jumping through hoops to accommodate and re-arrange. However, I'm not the one who will be eating two roast diners in the space of 90 minutes.

Do they want feeding? All of a sudden I've got a load of spare food.

This has to be brother (in-law perhaps) that no matter how much he ****s up, mothers are still happy to run around after them?

If only you had a friend with a famously prodigious appetite, and a propensity for telling arseholes to naff off....

Cannibalism is frowned upon in most societies

Cook the food anyway, put in an airtight Tupperware box then next time you see him, be it in a week or 6 months, make him eat it.

We have exactly this with my wifes' Brother. Been the same for years, him not turning up for family do's, arranged meals etc., after saying he'd come, must make the effort just in case. He moved to Australia with his new girlfriend, now fiance and they're getting married next Jan and we're now expected to fork out for 3 flights to Oz plus accommodation. My wife's terrified of flying and they're insisting my daughter is a bridesmaid. They proceeded to piss us off as much as possible before they left for Australia so to say we're less than enthusiastic is an understatement.

I’d politely tell them to walk north until their hats float. Unless they’re prepared to at least offer accommodation, I’d refuse to travel that distance and at considerable personal cost. Let’s face it they’re literally the other side of the globe, what are they gonna do about you not going?

They've offered accommodation but after spending 2 days under the same roof with them before they left for Oz, it would be best if we didn't! I've already told them that they moved, not us.

Let’s face it they’re literally the other side of the globe, what are they gonna do about you not going?

We might not get a Christmas card?
