The company I work for has a few customers who are bad payers. Basically they are one-man bands who collect their orders from our premises and pay by credit card it's the only way we can get the money out of them.

This credit card facility is something of a headache because we have to have the same standards of security as a business that makes 20,000 transactions per year, and we make about 20.

Is there another way we could process credit card payments without having to have a card reader on site?

This passes all the security issues onto the acquirer.

probably ideal for the number of transactions that you do.

Most banks business accounts have an EPDQ facility

we were able to log onto barclays and take a card payment straight into the business account

only pain in the arse was it won't remember the password automatically and logs you out if you leave it open...

Still find shops where they whizz the card over one of those imprint machines, rather than a card reader..

I've got one of iZettle's card readers for my card transactions and been pretty impressed... Nothing to compare it too obviously, but I've had no problems so far and found it easy to use and set up. Just download the companion app fro iphone/ipad.

bit of a thiock question but i can't find the answer... does izettle and stuff need a 3g or wifi connection or does it make a phonecall?

i want to use one at the markets i go to but most of the places down here in the far sw you can't get a decent 3g signal (on 02).

3g/WiFi.... well 'data' so it might do it on Edge, but will take longer/is flakier.
