So an update.

1st Tom is on holiday until tomorrow, but in his absence we haven't stopped work on this.

The issue, as we can determine, is that we used a Consent Management Service provided by a company called Quantcast before we moved to our current provider, Ezoic. The consent cookies that were set by Quantcast are still there in the browsers of the people who are affected by this constant pop up. The reason is that old cookie is preventing the new cookie from being read correctly by the new consent management protocol (CMP) and that means it can't tell that you have already clicked the button and registered your consent.

This is the reason this is so hard for us to fix - the file (cookie) that needs to be removed is not on our website, or our servers - it's in the cache of the browsers of the affected. We can't reach in there and delete them although we are trying to create a way that you can do this yourself with a click of a button in our own 'Cookie Killer'.

Our Cookie Killer doesn't currently fix the issue as the cooke that needs to be removed is not ours to remove - it belongs to Quantcast, who we don't use anymore.

For those that are technically OK with finding cookies and deleting them you are looking for up to 3 cookies named as follows...

.singletrackworld.com
www.singletrackworld.com

Notice the important full stops in front of two of them. These are the cookies we are trying to target. If you know how to do so then you could try finding and deleting them.

Despite them using our website URLs these were set on our behalf by Quantcast. They will contain the information relating to your consent choices when the Quancast CMP was last active, which was around September 2021.

We are going to publish a page of instructions for exactly how to find and remove these cookies for the various browsers that are used but while we do that we are also continuing to try to create a more easy to use solution through our Cookie Killer.

Well I've not done anything to my laptop or phone  and both of those are working fine now!

Whatever has been done at your end has worked . Thanks very much for all your fault finding.

Same here when I posted "I'm back" a page back. The Firefox W10 PC just started working normally again and so did the Android phone, previously clearing cookies made no difference so something must have been done at your end that stopped the problem.

? , Cougar. Just providing feedback. How would cookies from September still be on my machine when I've cleared them multiple times since? Not being funny, it's a real question, does clearing cookies (phone) or using Ccleaner (PC) not get rid of all the little devils? And I thought DuckDuckGo (phone) got rid of them every time I hit the burn symbol.

You’re literally worse than Hitler The Stasi.

They would have wet themselves for the ability to set things on other peoples machines that could not be removed.

I've had that in the past when I've had the page open for ages before making a post.

Hey all,
Update on where we are at with this issue. We have now put in place the solution our advertising provider has suggested. Our advertising provider is the one that controls the CMP (aka consent popup).

Any feedback as of today to whether this is is still happening for users would be much appreciated.

Once again, very sorry for any inconvenience caused by this.
