They are repeating Digging For Britain at the moment. Makes me really miss metal detecting.

Loved it. She really is one of the coolest people in the UK, whatever your definition of cool is.

I sold her a mobile phone in Bristol in 2003.

Always liked her, glad she hasn't gone full on right wing nutjob like a lot of the TV historians recently!

She may or may not be active on the forum so rule 1 probably applies here.

I wasn't much into her choice of music but very good to listen to , not a great early years and no wonder she couldn't get on with her dictator mum

Eggscellent I'm going to do a Zwift session and listen to her Desert Island Discs - she posts quite regularly on X commenting on music and I usually agree with her.

I like her post death idea. Nicely subversive.

I believe she is indeed on the forum. A strong believer in a back to basics approach to mountain biking, and that homemade pizza is best. On both points I totally agree with her.

Sugar by System of a Down! What an excellent choice, their self titled first album, as well as Toxicity, are so good.

I’m really enjoyed that. I caught most last Sunday then had to wait until today for the rest.

I have seen some of her tv stuff, such is good. But what I really love is her writing.i recommend reading the Incredible Human Journey. So much more than a presenter. Oh and she has me trying to work out how to get a kayak into my life.

She’s great, I have slightly more of a crush on her now. (Trying not to sound like a stalker)

excellent music choice, SoaD on radio 4 bliss. And the Sisters, I feel a revisit is on the cards for this arvos decorating.

I wonder if she likes big ginger men? I’m mean someone’s got to, besides the landlord of my local:-)

Yep, she's very good.

Would also give a shout for Prof Hannah Fry - another very engaging presenter and great communicator.

She pops up on Lauren Laverne's 6music programme - Mondays.

Maybe I'm overthinking this but I find some of the above posts borderline creepy.

She did that doc that dealt with our perceptions of luck and probabilities etc, I only understood about 60% of it but it was utterly fascinating stuff.👍

She's an awesome ambassador for science and history.

Really enjoyed that episode and was down with her music choices in the main 😊👍

Is Overbombing a euphemism for a semi?
I’ve never heard of it before, unless you kill somebody with Bombers rather than merely own them.

Mrs FD was handed and award by her fairly recently.

Her choice of language about the BBC later on in the evening whilst talking to Mrs FD was interesting to say the least. The polite version was that the BBC don’t necessarily think she is a good thing on our TV screens in the future

Must give this a listen over the weekend - I knew she's an old goth (slightly younger one than me I think) but never knew she's also a mountain biker!!

I studied archaeology for a long time (as an adult) and saw in Guy Kesteven's column about how bad winter was this year (it really was meteorologically worse, it didn't just feel that way) that he used to be an archaeologist, which I didn't know til today.

Made me wonder if many mountain bikers also have an affinity with archaeology, or similar - I see a metal detectorist here... Outdoors sliding around in mud, there's obviously a similarity!

Ah thanks will have to check it out. She was one of my lecturers in Anatomy when I was at Bristol in the early 2000's. Youngest and coolest lecturer we had.

Priceless! Thanks for the chuckle.

Great taste in music IMO, although, I found her explanations of why the music choices were important to be be tacit compared to others. Maybe it was the editing.

Getting SOAD on radio 4 made me smile in particular. I suspect, like her choice of burial, it was for the devilment.

My other half is an archaeologist and she hates bikes.

For those that aren’t aware
It’s a bloody hard job that pays badly. It’s not all tinkering about with tiny brushes like you see on tv.
Lots of hard work with Mattocs (rather than Bombers) and shifting soil.
They are experts at stealing pens and wearing trowels down to basically a handle too.
