Hi all.

I need a pair of power line adapters to connect my new you view box to the internet.

I have a double socket I'm position behind the TV I can plug it into no problems but it's the other end by the router that's the problem.

It's a single plug socket next to the telephone socket and I need to use an extension lead here as I have to plug in the phone router and a nas.

Is there such a thing of a power line adapter that plugs directly into the wall that I can then plug an extension lead directly into the back of ?

Cheers

Steve.

You can get plug through ones with a socket on the front but why not just plug it into an extension lead? They work fine.

I read that of you plug the adapter into an extension lead it loses signal strength.

you can plug an extension lead into the passthrough extender but it's not ideal.

I find new wifi quicker and more reliable than power line adaptors.
Hardwiring is actuallyvery easy if you really want ethernet.

No idea, wouldn't know how to check, but the equipment plugged into them still works, in fact I have an old virgin router thingy plugged in to one, and use it as a wireless connection as well as a wired switch (has the tivo box, TV, Blu ray player and Xbox 360 plugged in, as well as doing wifi) and it seems to manage ok.

Hi, both my power lines have 240volt socket so I can plug my extension socket into.

One is behind my tv and router.

The other is upstairs.

Both have extension leads plugged into them without a problem.

Slowest speed I've ever had was 600 mb/s.

One is powering 4 devices via an extension plug lead and also networking my PS4, NowTV box and my Xbox.

My 5ghz ac wifi gets to 300mb/s max for my laptop, tablet and iPhone.

Super hub Router (main connection)

Old router plugged in to power line adapter

Not very scientific as I can get much faster speeds on wifi if I change the Speedtest server.

I've used this place two or three times - came up well on price and deliveries were quick. They stock quite a range too

Oh, be careful when you're shopping; unless you need one to act as a wifi hotspot, be sure to avoid those with wifi in their descriptions

(Some have multiple sockets, by the way - you may or may not want that and it probably ocsts a bit extra. If you plug in more than one device they will "share" the total bandwidth but I've never struggled with one, esp for www streaming etc as even 500/3 is way faster than my broadband can get)

TP Link work well. As above plug through available. They do work on an extension lead but its not ideal (if you ever look inside one you'll understand why)

If you right click the image and view info/properties or whatever your browser uses it will tell you.

Oops forgot to reply:

AV1200 3-Port Gigabit Passthrough Powerline Starter Kit.

One goes to my router. The other in my study with 3 Ethernet outputs and an AC output.

For some strange reason the only socket that won't work with Powerline in our house is the one behind the TV, it doesn't make sense as it's on the same ring main as everything else. 😕

Odd unless there is buzzing from the TV? Check that socket for a short or bad contacts.

My microwave would stop my tv Ethernet extension for a second. I had to replace my wall socket.
