This isn't an anti-muslim topic. Please don't turn it into religion or slagging one off.

I overheard on Aljazeera yesterday that currently there are circa 10,000 British citizens who have gone over to to Syria for instance since the start of the civil war.

We've all seen in various places about the questions over standard of care etc for returning UK troops but there would be nothing that can (or be asked for) offered to such unofficial 'troops' can they?

Are we facing a ticking timebomb on increased crime and/or murders etc within communities?

How can you council someone that its not Muslim fighting against oppression but branches of Islam killing each other over territory etc etc? Not just Syria but worldwide really.

I kind of see it as the individual's problem.

Does PTSD lead to crime?

Indirectly.

A few programmes on UK soldiers post-leaving the army blames PTSD for an inability to get work, cope and relationship problems.

This is with a framework (improving?) to help soldiers. If you went out to help/fight and saw alot of terrifying, bodies etc you've got no one to turn to. I personally don't think everyone who comesback will be a Terrorist, more likely to be a mixed up and damaged person who has a alot of nightmares.

Unlikely, the Salafists are now murdering any that Assad hasn't already finished off.

This is whats worrying me. Syria will be faced with a lesser of two 'evils' to support or flee.

Its going to be years of car bombs even if the country is split firmly and agreed into two.

It's a good job that the kind of Individual who goes abroad to wage holy war against the infidel is known to be so well rounded, thoughtful and rational to start with then?

Surely if they follow their destiny, as pre-ordained by the prophet (peace be upon him) to their appointment with the 70 virgins*, then returning home shouldn't be an issue

* 70 spotty, anemic social inadequates who work in IT and still live with their mum?

Their choice to go, stuff them.
I tend to view them as traitors anyway.

Binners I disagree. Think of it this way, you are a second generation Syrian with immediate family in Syria (Uncles etc who are suffering). You are not automatically 'the enemy' in the eyes of Britain. Just a concern that you are who you say you are and what you'll be doing.

Similar (but on a much lesser scale) to what happened in the Balkans in the 90's.

Have there been any facts in this thread yet or is it all assertion?

If they were agitated enough to go and fight then perhaps they were already pretty stressed out?

Good mate of mine has only just started talking about being in Gorazde in 1995. You can tell he's still haunted by the results of the ethnic cleansing he witnessed.
