Me too. The quote bit is about 3 times the normal size, and has the quote to the left. Looks like I'm seeing the same as you.
What browser are you using? I'm at work on IE6 (so I usually put weirdness down to that).

Do you just select [\quote] then drop something into that that you've cut and pasted from a prev posting?

click the 'quote' button, copy and paste your text, then click the same button again which will now show '/quote'.
