Hi
Im almost a complete numpty at this type of stuff
but im soon to be advertising lots of stuff for sale
How do you post pics with your for sale ads ?
Many thanks
You need a website to 'Host' them first such as Flickr, Facebook, Dropbox etc. Once on the site, providing the album privacy is set to public, you can right-click on the image, select 'properties' and then paste what you call the URL address into image tags that you can see above this text box (IMG) one at the start before the address, one at the end, except the one at the end will have a forward slash / in it...
When you write the advert, say for example you were selling that dog with a paper bag on it's head, your line of text that would cause the image to display would look like this below EXCEPT, you would have square brackets, not normal ones. If I did that line with square brackets, you wouldn't see the line, you'd see the image... simple huh?
Have a little look at this tutorial video (there are hundreds on youtube). Hopefully you can understand it, as he is speaking in Australian..
you don't need to do anything so organised as flickr / Facebook accounts
Tinypic lets you upload pictures on an adhoc basis without an account, the presumption is you'll link to them so once uploaded so you don't get tripped up by privacy settings and it gives you the image address with the { IMG } tags already in place - just paste that straight into the forum.
Using the preview button below the 'send post' button allows you to test whether the picture is linking and posting ok or not, before you share you numptyness with a cruel and uncaring forum. Classifieds lurkers are the cruelest of critics! 🙂
I've found Imgur the easiest online site to host pics that I'll be linking to online. They even give you the BB link to make it super easy. They have a pretty cool set of ipad and iphone apps that make linking from mobile devices simple too. Even Amelia likes it 🙂
How much for the Dog in the Hat ? 😀
If you need to ask, you can't afford it... 😉
As BigG says imgur is the easiest imaging hosting site to use provides the code for the forum to use too, as does Flickr if you already have an account.
