My recently acquired laptop's keyboard has gone kaput, as it's still under warranty the retailer said they'll repair if I send it back.
Anyone ever posted a laptop? I thought maybe to use Parcel force. Do I need to insure it?
Thanks

Yes, I’d insure it for its value. Royal Mail Special delivery should do which insures up to £500 value.

Ask them to collect it. Pretty sure legally you shouldn't be out of pocket

Just before the first lockdown I sent out a couple of laptops to people - both via Parcelforce. First one I think went next day (pre-10am delivery) insured for £500 and was £20+, second one I sent standard delivery uninsured and was under £10. Both got there fine, the standard one only took a couple of days. I think you're supposed to be reimbursed for warranty repair returns but not sure if there's a cap on that

According to their site, Laptops and PCs Belfast, under 30 days they pay for the return thereafter and within warranty, I pay.
Why I asked is if it’s under 30 then I could just get a spare keyboard off eBay and hope it works.

Anyone ever posted a laptop?

At least once a week for years now.

I take them to the post office, they usually send them via Royal Mail rather than bumping them up to Parcel Force. Last one was via Special Delivery, cost us £26.60 and was insured for £500.

Most, if not all Laptop boxes have the "danger, battery inside" symbol, or whatever it is, I always make sure my label doesn't cover that. If that's not possible, make sure the Postie sticks a sticker on. TBH 99% of the time, they'll ask what's inside, ask "is the battery secure" and stick it on, even if the symbol is visible.

I've sent what must be 100+ laptops this way, not had one go missing or get damaged yet.
