Oh, boiled sweets?
Murray mints.
Bah, humbugs.
Extra hot cinnamon jawbreakers, the sort we used to buy in the early 1980's as kids- they were the size of golf balls and lasted all day
Jakemans cherry menthol.
Kop Kops
Jesmona black bullets
Either Wurthers originals or those Strawberry and vanilla swirly things whose name escapes me.

Kola cubes
Rhubarb & custards
Fruit Polos

Uncle Joe's mint balls. [\thread]
^ Good point! Got given some recently as a present and they were very good! Never noticed them on sale though, weirdly.
Soor plooms is the correct answer.
Jolly Rancher if we're talking candy or Rhubarb and Custards if we mean boiled sweets.
cola chews or cherry drops. aniseed twists not far behind, but only if some of the paper bag has gotten stuck to them.
lemon sherbets or everton mints
How the holy parp do you choose just one? Guaranteed if you wander into one of the Ye Olde Sweete Shoppe type places you'll have 'One o' them, half a dozen o' them, no, them. Yeah and what was that coconut tobacco called?'
'Coconut tobacco'
'Yeah some o' that, and 10, no 12, flying saucers, and a scoop of them pips. Pineapple cubes, comfits, cola cubes, rhubarb and custard, a few of them lemon bonbons, no, strawberry and what were those strawberry-flavoured boot-lace things called?'
'Strawberry boot- laces?'
'Yeah them!'
I last visited one of these shops in Upton on Severn, it 'took me right back. Apparently Men Of a Certain Age are a common sight at such places. One owner told me she'd seen grow men cry! Tasting sweets! That's just weird. And a little sad 🙁
I vote rhubarb and custard. No, wait...
Best hard candy in the Black Country were:
Spangles were the worst sweets ever.
Toffo, surely...
Pear drops.
Moffat toffee, only soor plooms in gala.
Bill mclaren was never wrong so Hawick balls.
Jethart snails, cough candy twists, rhubarb and custards (weird as I dont like rhubarb) blackpool rock, well any seaside rock.
Werthers; the old chap from down the street used to let us suck one.
