We are looking at coming to Wales next August - 2 families with 2 kids each (2,4,6 & 10 at that time) and looking for somewhere really nice to stay (its a 40th birthday) there will be some MTB but also with kids we are looking for a pool and non bike things to do, so a nice hotel would be great!

Bluestone looked perfect but just a bit too far to travel daily to BPW or Affan, so really looking for somewhere within an hour, is there somewhere?

Is Llangoed Hall too far from BPW & Afan?

Celtic Manor is in Newport just off the M4 they have lodges there. Think it's about 40 minutes plus to BPW. The vales closer but never been.

The Vale is pretty average, IMO.

Well Cardiff is almost time equidistant between Afan and BPW. We’ve got a couple of fancy hotels. St David’s in Cardiff Bay is supposed to be nice.

Don’t go anywhere near Neath period! It’s like stepping into a set from Star Wars.

Colditz (Celtic Manor) may be your best bet. It's not exactly luxury, but it has reasonable facilities and its not far to BPW.

Looking for a pool?
Non-bike things to do?

I think you've perfectly described the Glyncorrwg ponds campsite!
