High five Mama McMoonter for persevering with the most sulky of sitters. My niece is over from France for a couple of weeks and my mother said she'd like to paint her portrait. I thought she'd love being the centre of attention, but she wriggled and squirmed all through the sitting. Latterly she lay face own on the floor. She's barely a teenager.
Despite my mum not having painted for the best part of twenty years after an hour or so using my unfamiliar paints and brushes she knocked this off. She is a pretty accomplished painter, the last portrait she painted was hung in the National Portrait Gallery, it's good to see she hasn't lost her touch. Hopefully my niece will realize how valuable the experience was later in life.
Anyone else on here had their portrait painted?
WOW ! That is amazing. 😀
I am hoping to persuade a friend to do some portraits of my family ( via photos ) as a surprise. I would be very happy if turned out something like you mothers.
I would have made her put a plain jumper on before getting started.
Happy little fella ain't she?

She's at that age where smiles are in short supply.
It would take me about 24 hours to draw a picture half as good as that, never mind paint it. Excellent stuff.

I think just achieving something like that is amazing. I am always in awe of people with artistic talents.
