My partner is upgrading from a Samsung A3 to a Samsung A40.

I'm on android too but not had a Samsung for years as I'm a Google Pixel fanboy now.

Using Samsung Switch and basically syncing the Google/ Samsung account across will get most of it done but I don't think that will sync apps, and such?

What's the best way to do this, just do the above and load up the apps manually?

Neither mobile is rooted but will any 3rd party apps help with this process guys?

Thanks for help as always guys/gals.👍

What do you mean by "sync apps"?

If you want to reinstall the same loadout as the old device, it should give you that option when reconnecting to your Google account. Individual settings within those apps would depend on the particular apps.

No idea what Samsung Switch is, I don't see eye to eye with Samsung's Android outings.

Sorry, I mean that I want the new mobile to automatically have the same apps installed into it as the old mobile. When they are compatible anyway.

That said, just looking at the info for the Switch app it suggests that it should be able to port across the apps too, dependant on the version of Android on the A3. If so, all is good. I must have used Switch in the past but it was many years back.

Upgraded my work Samsung to a newer Samsung earlier this year. Seem to remember that I linked them with a usb cable, tapped the screen a couple if times and the old one became the new one.

Sounds hopeful Onza, I'll be using WiFi to do the transfer but similar principle.

Guessing you used Samsung Switch app?

As Onza said, my new Samsung started up and went auto through the "please link both phones via USB" and let Samsung app do the rest.

Might also need to backup WhatsApp chats eg to Drive then restore on the new phone. Not sure about other messaging apps. Not sure as I can't remember.

Yep worked fine for me when I last did it. I think that I might have done A3 to A40 myself actually.

It worked for me via cloud, from Samsung S6 to S9. I just logged in on the new phone and it downloaded all the apps and my stuff to the new phone.

Thanks guys. Did most of it tonight without the old phone even being here. Great stuff.

Just got to bung in the SIM from the old phone when I see her next and tinker with a few things and that's about it.

Cheers guys.👍
