I might be able to get a last minute ski holiday to PdS this winter and I've never skied there. I saw on the website they do an internet only price. how exactly does that work? surely i still need the physical pass to make that work? do i just collect it from the pass office but just cheaper?
Do i need to get a old pass to save the money?
any tips?
All the following is with no experience of PdS, so all of it may be completely wrong...
I expect that it's just a discount for buying in advance versus walk-up pricing. Lots of places also have dynamic pricing for day tickets etc depending on expected demand. Usually if you have an old lift card you can get the new pass uploaded onto that which saves €3 or whatever the deposit against the card is. BUT this is only possible if the PdS system is the same as your old ski area system (e.g. Skidata).
I did it years ago and then you collected from the town hall / tourist information.
You may be able to collect from the machines now.
I just recharge if I’m in PdS
I top up existing passes in PDS
When i prebought for verbier last year they email you a qr code that you can scan at a machine or hand to the ticket office.
You can definitely connect passes bought online from ticket machines in the PdS, though last time I tried the machine was faulty so still had to queue for a ticket window and speak to someone. But last weekend in Chamonix it worked perfectly and had the cards in my hand in about 30 seconds.
I’m off to PdS myself in March but getting the hotel to sort the passes for us. Be interested to hear what conditions are like.
