Looking for help.
My old man, in his 70s, lives on his own and is a bit of a technophobe.
No mobile and is stuck in the "you have to speak on the phone to communicate psyche" which is not ideal and my toddler aged kids barely speak to him, although they speak to my mum all the time on fb messenger, even if its 10 minutes of putting silly faces over theirs.
I thought of getting him a portal/similar for Christmas so the kids can video call him and they seem very easy to use/sit on a table and hands free but I know nothing about them or any competitors.
Any ideas collective?
Portal is excellent.
My in laws have a Portal. I was cynical...
it's bloody brilliant for them. Video calls on whatsapp works WAAAAY better than phones.
another yes for Portal. Very easy and it's all large icons etc.
Story time apps etc where you read a story to the kids and their is pic is in the story has proved a hoot with the kids during lockdown.
It's all very family friendly, I'd buy again if I had to
Brill, thanks. From reading reviews its people without a facebook account who have had issues, he does so sounds like a goer. Maybe get 2 by the sounds of things?? #primeday
My dad bought us all a portal at the beginning of lockdown. It sits on top of our TV in the living room. A little fiddly to setup but it has been brilliant for keeping in touch with everyone.
The kids love messing around with it too with story time and various face/masks you can add.
It worked well during lockdown, like a family version of Gogglebox.
I'd recommend.
