I have recently got rid of having a smartphone. This is all fine, except I miss having a camera. Well, I've got one, but the 79p (seriously) phone I bought is rocking a 0.2mp camera. And while megapixels ain't everything....
I just want something I can carry about in my pocket. I'm a relatively experienced photographer, can process RAWs properly etc.
I gt about £200 back from sending my smartphone back so that's my (approximate) budget
I have an Olympus OMD and a few m4/3rds lenses. The smallest camera they do with that system is the GM1 with the zoom out 12-32mm lens. I already have a 20mm prime but would prefer a bit more versatility. Can pick a body and lens up for approx £200 on eBay
But I see a lot of people praising the RX100. Looking at it, seems like I'd be looking at a used MK1.....
Any pros/cons? Anyone had experience of both?
Tempted to go with the GM1 as I play in a band and it'd be nice to be able to use the lenses and set up a couple of cameras to do videos while we play (I have a m4/3 fisheye)
I have an RX100 and I'm a huge fan.
But a couple of things tilt the balance the other way
Firstly you own microfourthirds lenses
Secondly your buying used. In my experience all cameras get sensor dust in the end. With a GM1 at least you can clean it out
If you want me to rave about whats good about the RX100 post again
I was leaning to the GM1
Tell me more about the RX100s though
Very happy with my RX100 Mk1. It takes amazingly clear, sharp and well-exposed shots for its size, and it's small enough to to wear on backpack chest straps for riding/hiking/wild camping, which means it gets to the places where the good shots are.
