Some one on a thread recently said they use a DAB radio like this.

Anyone recommend such a thing, I know they are heavy on batteries or can you run one off the 12 volt

Thanks

I use one of these in the landrover.

http://www.argos.co.uk/product/2596622

aux phono cable into a little ebay chinese amp and a couple of speakers.
Works fine although wont pick up signal very well when its being charged over usb, probably as my landy electrics are unshielded and pretty vulgar so spitting out loads of interference.

I have it connected to a USB lead on a switch and when the battery starts showing low I flick it on to charge over night.

i just use a regular portable DAB the cheapest one argos had .

it just so happens to take 5v 1a so i popped into maplin and bought the jack and cut the end off a use cable. made my own charger that charges from the usb ports in the van.

been using it for years plugged into the aux input in the van or the tape converter in the car !

I've had 2 Tesco cheapies but they both developed faults. The one I use now is a Sony XDRS40 that costs £40 from Tesco. It only takes 4 AA batteries, so I was sceptical how long they last but a set of rechargeables lasts all day and as long as you don't have it next to your phone the reception is great. Rarely have to extend the antenna.
In the car we plug it into the Aux. In the van I just have it on the passenger seat or if I'm going to be doing noisy motorway driving I use my Minirigs speaker.

I've got one of these:
In the van. Works ok most if the time, but without a proper DAB aerial (it's supplied with a wire aerial) it can struggle in some areas. It's means 6Music in the van though!

My wife has a Pure Move 2500 (which I think has now been replaced with this model:

Very good reception using Aux input on her car.

Do you need DAB? I use the TuneIn app on my phone through the auxiliary plug. Works great and good sound quality
