Please 🙂

I'm after a pair of USB charged bluetooth speakers for a campervan (and other portable places). I want something that can be used as a stereo pair or individually.

Something that works well at low volume (no buzz / hiss)

And ideally something that doesn't make a silly noise when turning on and off like my Anker does.

Oh and want it to sound good aswell.

Maybe a fussy list of requirements but there must be something decent out there.

Budget £50 each or a bit less ideally.

Cheers

I think every recommendation I've seen in that price range has been for an Anker of some kind of other!

Think the stereo pair requirement is going to limit you a lot, otherwise I'd probably suggest something older/used to perhaps get better sound quality in that budget.

Soundcore Flare+ here, came free with a phone contract . Don’t use it for music but it’s got a decent sound for the size. It’s my podcast speaker, can carry it to wherever I am in the house and to the garage when I’m working on the bike, in the van when camping etc.

No hiss. Listening to @distantpod now and if there’s hiss it’s from their mics.

Ultimate Ears make some good stuff and they can be paired for true stereo.

UE Wonderboom £50

I've got an Anker Soundcore Motion B, it's great and fits all the OP's requirements (aside from the 'silly noise' bit).

It's worth searching the forum for this, it's something people ask for recommendations for like weekly.

second the wonderboom suggestion, I've two of the smaller ones that pair (don't thing the gen1's do) provide a good sound to fill a 5x3.5m room

Waaay over your budget, buitni’m going to mention them anyway

https://minirigs.co.uk/speakers/bluetooth-minirig-3

Great sound, stereo pairing, wired or Bluetooth. They have a long battery life, and really tough.

I’ve taken minirigs all over the world, and they’ve been great - reliable and easy. I’d say they are perfect for what you want ... apart from the cost, of course.

Just had an email from Richer Sounds. They've got some Sony jobbies on offer that can be paired:

I have a JBL flip 4 and a JBL Charge 3.
Bit bass heavy, plenty loud if you want it, they link together (wirelessly) for making noise over a larger area (you can link up to 100, i think)
Does make a jaunty little tune on start up though.

The Charge has a USB port so you can charge something whilst playing (hence the name)

Came here to mention the wonderboom - it is tremendous.

Quick question, I've currently got one speaker does the stereo feature with 2 make an apreciable difference to sound quality or does it just "fill" more space..? Pondering whether to buy a second one...

I have an Anker Soundcore 2, which can be paired with another one for stereo. Good sound, very compact and well within your budget.

Battery last ages, too.

Edit: my apologies, I missed the "no silly noise" requirement...

I'll throw Tribit into the mix, I have a Stormbox and for a kitchen / bathroom speaker it's pretty spot on. I got mine for about 50 quid. Says they can do stereo pairing, but whether that's proper stereo or just playing the same out of both speakers I dunno.

Thanks all, I’ll check out the recommendations.

No worries. The noise is just a bit of annoyance of using it at night, if one of us is asleep the other gets a shock as it powers down.

Haha, I knew I started a thread like this before.... Still haven't bought anything a year later.

Might get UE Wonderboom 2 or any other suggestions? Black Friday bargains?

I’ve got a UE Roll (think the mini boom sort of replaced it?) still like it a lot, as do all the other UE speakers.

Tough, waterproof and surprisingly good audio
