Anyone know if these things are easy to set up by yourself and are much cop?
Been toying with the idea of getting one to work on the bikes outside and to clean them under (post ride) when it's a particularly grim day (no garage and not enough room in the shed, you see).
The ones I'm looking at are supposedly waterproof and around £60-70 on eBay.
Thank you.
3m X 3m are dead easy in your own. Maybe 2 mins.
6m X 3m are a lot harder but still doable.
Great, thanks.
I didn't want to have to faff around for ages trying to set the damn thing up on my own.
You’ll be fine.
Canopy up and locked out first, with the legs short.
Then open out the legs to full length once the canopy is done.
They are rubbish in any sort of wind. They can easily bend or break.

The more expensive ones seem better.
The cheap ones have plastic hinge joints that seem made of plasticine and these deform and give way in a high wind. You really do not want to be struggling with a disintegrating gazebo in high winds. 🙂
I have often wondered if guying down from the centre of the apex (internally) would make a difference, but then you'd have a rope slap in the middle of the thing.
The ones with a cross frame and a pole in the middle to hold up the canopy seem to last better than the cheap ones with the frame that supports the canopy.
I've had one of the first type since 2005 and it's been fairly solid in some fairly windy conditions, as long as you guy it down properly. In contrast I've seeen the second type collapse in lower wind conditions. The wind just pushes the frame to deform or the joints fail.
Is there nowhere you could put up a wee carport type structure? local timber merchant for wood, freecycle/gumtree for some roof materials? Side of the shed frinstance, much more realistic than putting up a gazebo when it's pissing and/or blowing a hoolie.
what about a tarp or awning of some sort - you could fix eyebolts to the shed/house - saves on the faff of the legs of the gazebo, but gives you a bit of cover? clip hooks/karabiners for quick set up?
Make sure they are actually waterproof. Most seems to turn the rain into a fine mist which eventually soaks you.
I use one that we got from I think Halfrauds. Bog standard and is wide enough to place it over the bonnet of the landy.
