Aside from the potential consequences and other unsavoury aspects of the referendum, I'm finding the actual politics of it intriguing.

- Cameron outmanouvering Boris?

- Who wants to be the next PM?

- Will we actually leave?

- What's Osbourne going to do?

- Labour thinking we've got to get our house in order between now and 2020 to take advantage of the (potentially) disastrous next few years?

- Merkel's conciliatory tone.

- Junker's not so conciliatory tone.

- EU leaders having to balance a desire (maybe?) to keep the UK, or keep us involved somehow, vs discouraging others from doing the same as we have?

- A possible way for the LibDems to regain some lost ground?

- Sturgeon's role and the fine line she has to tread.

The pure politics - in isolation - is fascinating. Pity there's so much at stake otherwise I think I would enjoy watching it all unfold.

Molgrips is evidently thinking the same, just a bit quicker than me 🙂

I'm surprised there hasn't been any threads until you and mollie posted about politics and the EU.

Agree. It is fun, apart from the reality of the exit (if it happens). And even in the current uncertainty, people will soon be losing jobs, and immigrants/visitors/non-white are already getting abused. So, on balance, I'd have preferred boredom.

I considered that Drac, but those threads are all a bit angsty aren't they. Understandably of course. This is more about the strategy/maneuvering and so on.

It's making my job easy as the big hitters are all in one place, it's like a big play park for them.

A fabulously intriguing soap opera with some real life high stakes that we're all bound into. We live in Interesting Times...

This was meant to be for intrigued spectators nattering in the stands, whereas the other threads are for the bare chested gladiators in the arena. Completely different clientele 🙂

@CFH just read your thread, other places I have frequented just join the threads together and also have a Politics forum which has specific rules and is moderated differentiy (maybe not at all ?)

My thread was partly a spectator thread but also a genuine question. I think I'm going over there now.
