You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just an observation from today but there has been a pickup truck (type used for removing illegally parked cars) and a police car cruising the area. They stop ocassionally, check the Tax disc and if expired, the vehicle is uplifted. So far seen them disappear with 4 cars and one small van (which was less than 3 years old).
I'm assuming they have a right to remove and crush. Do they have to keep for X days before crushing or is it "tough, no tax, no car"?
I can see a few people reporting a stolen car only to be told it has been removed.
I have no sympathy and only praise for the police actions but curious what they will do with the cars they have taken?

Certainly do and about 21 days rings a bell.
Excellent news. I don't see why this doesn't happen all the time. If you flaunt the law expect to get your car squashed.
Oh and I don't think they are all crushed some are sold on at auction.
They store them at our training centre, those not sold or kept by police(used as unmarked cars) are given to us so we can cut them up. 😀
When I saw this I thought the police were investing in some vehicles to provide a free uplift service for local mountain bikers.
Which would be more useful than parking on double yellows blocking the road outside my local chippy while the (quite rotund) officers get their tea - which is the only time you see them round here.
I sort of agree with it (previously - not taxed/not insured = 5 day wonder = diappearing act = waste of time)
Feel a bit sorry for someone who makes a genuine mistake (£105 recovery plus £12 per day storage I think), probably more than you get for mugging a pensioner.
(*PS anybody ever seen DVLA prosecuted for a failure on vehicle management - thought not, nothing like fairness - boom boom)

I'me glad to hear that.
That whole "We'll seize your car and crush it" advert has always annoyed me, because it seems like such an utter waste.
