I've been doing strength training 1-3 times a week for a couple of years. I follow a mtb specific programme but fancy a bit of a change and think mixing some plyometrics in for the dynamic movement mtb riding requires.
Anyone got suggestions?
Not really looking for long YouTube videos but a few variations of exercises would be good. I've got weights and bands, etc.
I did a bit when I was last training properly. This was for running, so hopping and various two-footed step jumps were quite an obvious thing to do. I mostly used to do sets of hops while running, but only when no-one was looking 🙂
Not sure about upper body though.
I used to use plyometrics when I was a triple jumper, which was a very long time ago. It was pretty activity-specific and obviously relevant / key in that case.Â
At a really basic level you could start with jump squats and maybe press-ups with claps for upper body. That said, although they're good for explosive movement, I'm not sure how relevant that is to mountain bike control, which seems more about core strength and being braced against / controlling lateral movement etc?Â
This came up in a search so I gave it a go this morning.

Fairly short and easy enough. Could build on it. Hoping it helps with jumps and tech climbs.
This is the guy to follow if you want to know ALL THE MOVES for plyometrics

And that is the worst video to showcase what he does!
