I need to connect this running from the basin
https://soak.com/en-gb/toilets-and-basins/plumbing-and-fittings/wirquin-1.25%22-extendable-trap-for-sink-and-basin-waste/73130001.html
to this 40mm solvent weld pipe sticking out of the wall
https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-solvent-weld-waste-pipe-black-40mm-x-3m/23406

I went to B&Q and tried sticking the first thing in various plumbing attachments and asked in toolstation or city plumbing, i can't remember, and have got nowhere.

Any ideas?

I am not a plumber just bored at work so no guarantees and that’ll be 75 quid but 50 for cash

I am no plumber and of no help. I had similar issue trying to get a sink with marley? fittings to for into the wavin? Waste pipe. I ended up doing a bodge.

It it were me I would be replacing it with a standard trap as I hate those flexi ones. Sorry I can't help further.

Get yourself a proper trap and you can then use a push fit onto the solvent weld pipe (if you don't want to use more solvent weld pipe)

Thanks. I have read a few dodgy reviews of the flexi trap things. Are they really that bad?? It's in a pretty accessible place.

I wouldn't use it on the bath where there's more chance of blockage.

As above Kilo's suggestion will do the job but I'd rather get a proper trap set rather than that flexible piece of crap. Will still need to convert it from 32mm to 40mm. This one is even cheaper https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-st28m-straight-connector-white-32mm-x-40mm/95260

I would suggest go out and buy another flexi pipe trap as a spare as I don't think the thin plastic would last too long.
In saying that I do have a length of flexi pipe connecting my bottle trap to a waste pipe.

That trap is a recipe for disaster as it will block in no time, use a normal trap with multi fit nut instead of glued

As said earlier those flexi pipes are really poor. Make a solid one up, it’ll do a much better job. They are prone to damage and getting objects stuck in the pleats.

When we go away to holiday cottages and I see a flexi hose I assume the owners have done stuff on the cheap. Do yourself a favour and fit a proper trap.

Right, yes, this flexi hose is going. I tried it, it leaked, there's not enough thread on it, and the water is too slow to drain.

That 32 40mm adapter worked great though - thanks for the tips.

Bedroom to bathroom conversion nearly done...
