Plumberists and keen amateur waterworks enthusiasts (ooh err) of STW, any recommendations for reasonably priced but reliable kitchen mixer taps?
The MIL has been turned over by her nephew (****) who fitted some absolutely shocking taps for her last year and they now leak. I said I could fit new ones, but want a bit of advice over brand. Obviously I could go with the more expensive brand, but want to save her a bit if possible, whilst still avoiding rubbish taps.
Thanks in advance plumberiserers.

Pretty sure our current kitchen mixer tap came from Homebase, changed the valve cartridge things after a few years, still doing fine.

I'd just change the valves in the current one, they're cheap, easy to fit and a lot less hassle than changing the whole thing out.

Cheers, I couldn't get the cartridges out yesterday when I had a look, not easy to service.

I've had numerous kitchen taps from Screwfix.
They are all pretty decent, dont go for the cheapest ones, but start at £50+ and they are usually good.
These from Franke shoudl be top quality for £90:
Franke taps

But against the advice I've just given, these are fine,at £40, I fitted one at my parnets house a few months ago:

Second the Franke option. Spares readily available for most of their taps and a great service to purchase them.

I don't think you can blame her nephew for teh taps leaking unless when he fitted them they were leaking, if they are just poor quality and the taps she wanted it's bad luck they were a bad one.

Personally Bought some good ones from Victoria plumb and Victorian plumbing.

Don’t believe the ‘discounts’ on Victoria plum etc. If you look at it closer, turns out a lot of the brands they sell at huge discounts, only they sell and inflate the RRP.

I’m no plumber but I’ve renovated a few kitchens and bathrooms and I've never had a bad tap from Bristan.

I've upgraded our cartridges to branded ones (Franke?) and it's solved the leaky taps issue we had when we moved in 6 years ago.

Cheers gents, off to buy some Franke mixers.
No problem with her nephew other than fitting cheap, and charging expensive.
