turn the hot or cold tap and water starts to come out of the shower which also starts making a banging noise....any clues, can it be fixed with a lump hammer and WD40.

On off valve to shower failing. Full water pressure effectively seals it untill pressure drop from turning the tap on breaks that seal. Shower runs reseals valve bang. Pressure drops repeat.
