Morning folks
Replacing a bath waste/overflow and trap.
Do I need/should I use an additional 'sealant' - e.g. Fernox, Plumbers Mait, Plumbers Gold etc. - or are the seals/gaskets suffice (& reliable)?
If yes, which one & where to/not to use it... above/below waste drain or behind overflow or on trap or on seals or...???
BIG thanks, in advance 👍🏻
The rubbers seals should be perfect without any additional goo. Just make sure the surfaces are clean.
IANAP and neither was whoever connected the cold feed to my loft cistern. That had PTFE tape and plumbers mait on the olive joint, more plumbers mait and what looked like hairy twine meshed into the securing nut, and then a huge wrap of self-amalgamating tape over the whole lot - and it still was weaping! So try and avoid that!
