I'm preparing the plumbing the new sink as part of my kitchen replacement. the sink has come with waste and trap which finishes in a 40mm pipe which fits a Marley 40mm push fit waste connector perfectly.
the pipework downstream of this is 40mm solvent (so 43mm - honestly who came up with that as a standard!)
I'm happy working with solvent, I like the certainty of it and its never let me down
is there a dedicated connector that will take me from 40mm push fit to (43) solvent? in either a straight line or 90deg bend (I can't find anything obvious on Screwfix) or do I just use a universal compression fitting? Im not mad keen on using a compression fitting horizontally but maybe im overthinking it!
I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure they're the same. "43mm" pipe is 40mm internal diameter. Have you tried mating the Marley pipe with a solvent weld fitting?
Yes, a compression should join the two. Buy the best available. The cheap ones really are rubbish. Mcalpine are usually fine.
A Mcalpine T18-ABS is a straight push fit to solvent adapter and good quality.
Standards 😂
seriously though. Mcalpine compression or the T18 are both good answers. I’d trust the compression before old push fits personally.
Thanks chaps. The more I fiddled with the provided trap the more I thought it was generally a bit bobbins so I’ve picked up a mcalpine space saving trap that looks like I’ll be able to push it to the back of the cupboard and free up a bit of space
