Just freed a stuck trv, silicon didn’t work, ditto wd40, so went for the good ole plus gas, swearing and wiggling etc, now sorted. So I’ve decided to add them to the annual list of stopcocks on and off, ditto inlines, ditto valves etc etc, as they’re a bit different would it be worth lubing them and if so what with , cheers.

don't know the answer to your question, I tend to free stuck trvs with a light tap with a hammer on the pin to free it, but the idea of the annual list is great.  We always used to switch everything off before holidays but never do now and I suspect it had the added benefit of keeping everything working.  I'll add it to my list of things to think about and probably never actually do 🙁

Someone once told me he turned all the stopcocks and valves off and on every new year's day.

Struck me as someone just repeating a line to make him sound clever when it's obvious that a) he didn't, b) there's only a couple of worse days to do it on if you spring a leak, and c) he really isn't.
