Hello as the titile, anyone had it....how long to recover? Aany lasting effects on your lungs?reoccurrances?
Thanks
Yes, it hurts!
I 'suffered' for a couple of days and then went to the GP who gave me some pills. I seem to remember it went away in less than a week with no lasting effects and no re-occurrence in the 15ish years since
What are the symnptoms? I never usually get chest things but somethign has really taken me out this week.
Sturggling for breath and great rumbling moans and sighs from deep in my chest when I breathe in. At least the fever's stopped.
Pleurisy is due to inflammation of the pleura next to the lung. It is most often caused by viral infection. In these cases the pain can be severe, but soon goes. Various other lung disorders can also cause a 'pleuritic pain' similar to pleurisy. A pleuritic pain is a chest pain which is typically sharp and 'stabbing' in a part of the chest. The pain is usually made worse when you breathe in or cough.
Off last week with general lurgy or so I thought, have a serious chest infection and the reoccurrance of pleurisy, second bout in 4 months, went to work with the first bout but this time absolutley floored......it has been like altitude sickness for 8 days. On the pills now but worried that the pleurisy may have messed me lungs up hence coming to the medical font that is STW 😉
Sorry to hear, vondally. Hope you get better soon.
(Thanks for that, I don't have stabbing pains, just the wheezing moans and sighs).
many thanks, hope you are on the mend as well
