Having recently moved house I’m starting to get round to the garden, I will probably have a few of these requests as although small, it’s a well matured garden.

First up

It’s a climbing plant that is currently taking over the railings.

I think 3 is a Camelia

And 4 I'll guess a Pieris Japonica. Maybe a flaming silver? Wait and see what colour it's flowers are

4 is a Pieris as picked up above.
Worst time of year for them as the leaves lose their colour and make it look dead.

I thought number 2 was a cistus or rockrose?

Thank you all. The garden isn't very healthy overall at the moment, to say it’s been neglected is an understatement! I’m on the case and will get it great again.

Any ideas how to fix a metal arch that’s rusting away but has a very mature honeysuckle and climbing rose entwined through it?

If the arch can last another ten months I'd try and reduce and thin out the climbers then and replace the arch. In the mean time you could start work on the rose, cut back dead, damaged or weady stems, or those that have already flowered, don't be afraid to cut it back and try and create a nice framework of stems.

My usual approach us level it and see if it reappears next year.

Surprisingly effective.

Thanks Steven, I thinned it out today, not ideal as it should have been done a few months ago but it’s got enough on it to take a bit of a harsh prune.
It’s going to be a bit difficult to get the old arch out as it’s been trained through it quite well!

A problem for future me I guess.
