Booked some concert tickets in September but that's just been dingied until next year and hotel is still booked so a weekend away it is.

I love Glasgow, lived there for 10 years and know it like the back of my hand but what's hot in the eats department?

Anything considered from BBQ pit to fancy and or forrin.

Different is good.

And what are the cocktail bars d'jour, I don't think 99p Tuesdays in Strathclyde union is going to cut it.

We were in Edinburgh last week and eat at a fantastic little Mexican place called Topolabamba. They've only two restaurants. One in Edinburgh, one in Glasgow. If its as good then its well worth a visit

I bloody love Glasgow! Its a great city! I've not been for years and definitely need a return visit. Had many a lost weekend there

Six By Nico if you want fancy and different
Crabshakk for the best seafood by far
Mother India for curry
Spanish Butcher for meat
Mezcal for Mexican
Ramen Dayo for...ramen

Cocktails wise

The bar in The Blythswood is hard to beat
Bar Soba (in Mitchell lane) is a lot busier but the cocktails are excellent
Kelvingrove Cafe

For general pubs

Howlin Wolf
The Lab
Pot Still
The Ben Nevis

Yes, outstanding. They also own the restaurants next door which are also fantastic. Chakoo which does amazing Indian and then Mezzidakia which is eastern Mediterranean ( I highly recommend the Lipsi Mussels)

(Edit: Mezzidakia is now called "Panang" but appears to be Thai food)

Great suggestions, some tried and trusted like crabshakk and mother India are in the back pocket already.

Do love a Mexican...

Six by Nico always seems to do something I'm not that interested in when I am about!

Oh yeah I also need a bangin breakfast/brunch with excellent coffee. Smashed avo, eggs Benny etc it's all good.

Gizzis espresso bar in shawlands is awesome, as is salt n vinegar across the road and up a bit (maybe not for you OP, for anyone else looking in, best fish supper I've ever had).

PERCHINHO IS BACK!🙏🏻

PER-CHING! 😂

@binners, there's a topolobamba in Aberdeen too, just in case you're ever unlucky enough to find yourself there. 👍🏻

A recent day out saw us going to Cafe Gandolfi(brunch)and Fanny Trollope's(dinner)both excellent. Been around for ages do there is a chance you'll have been before but they are still very good. Scran is also good for brunch but a bit out the way and often has a q. A place I haven't tried but want to is Comet Pieces, looks good.

Never seen the appeal in Paesano. Apparently authentic pizzas are made raw in the middle and burnt on the outside.
Topolabamba is a good shout for eats and cocktails. Mexican tapas and frozen margaritas…ace.

I haven't been but I follow the FB page of Swadish Indian restaurant on Ingram St. Their chef, Ajay Kumar, posts his methods & recipe's on You Tube & look flipping awesome. I'd be heading there if I was in Glasgow.

+1

Other than it's very cheap. The pizza bases are horrifically soggy in the middle which is supposedly authentic yet despite dozens of trips to Italy I've never seen a pizza like it there

Gizzis espresso bar in shawlands is awesome

Indeed it is however the 2 brothers that own it are beyond miserable.

Cafe Strange Brew is the best in shawlands but unless you're in the queue at 8am it's almost impossible to get in.

I asked a similar question the other week..
We ended up in the finniston for lunch and mother India for dinner. Both excellent
It’s be eaten in fanny Trollopes before and it was lovely as well!

I like it around finniston/kelvingrove!

Blue Lagoon or Greggs, if you want a little more posh then the China Buffet King has actual seating as well.

Strange Brew is indeed very good. Kaf in Partick is excellent for coffee and they did do good food but went takeaway only during lockdown. Not sure if they've gone back to eating in food or now.
