Pixel 6a real-world battery life?

My XZ1 Compact is getting a little unreliable, and the Pixel 6a looks like the best replacement - almost. Some reviews say the battery life is fine, if not amazing, but some say it is poor. It's been out a while now and I'm sure there must be some STW denizens who have taken the plunge. So, what's it really like?

Had mine for a few weeks now, and not had any issues with battery life. I'd read the same reviews, and was a bit concerned at first, but its been absolutely fine. I don't spend hours and hours a day with the screen on though, so YMMV!

No issues for me yet had it a month now I think. Seems better than the 4a it replaced was doing.

day one battery drained for some reason, but usually end a day of average use with 60% at least battery ever since. Finger print recognition could be better but otherwise all good.

Had mine pretty much since they were released and no issues with battery life. Even using it for work (calls and photos) I very rarely get down below 40% battery by bed time. The smart charging is useful as well, charge it over night with an alarm set for the morning and it will trickle charge to 100% in time for the alarm instead of fast charging all the time which is better for the battery.

If you are going to do it, you can get 20% off at the Google store today.

Also they offer good prices for trade-ins so I just upgraded my pixel 4a to a 6a for £120.

That'd be a good deal but having just had a look at the Google store it looks like they've pulled the plug on the 9/9 sale.

The code works anyway, they just aren't advertising it. I presume off the back of yesterday's event.

Discount code is GOOGLEPARTY24

So it does, despite the page banner "The 9/9 sales event is no longer taking place"!
£320 for a 6a is killer value if you're in the market for a mid-ranger.

no worries, it's a great phone with real-life great battery life. Also a lot nice to use than the bigger 6 as it's nothing like as heavy (6 is very top heavy) and a slightly more compact size.

Not sure if the early review units had a bug or if they'd taken battery life from the first day of use or whatever I don't know. Phones hammer the battery for the first day or two whilst e.g. google photos syncs etc....

What sort of screen time are we looking at?

A pointless comparison between different people as use cases vary so much - apps used, whether outdoors or indoors (ie. whether the screen is at full tilt or dim) whether dark mode is enabled etc etc...

For me though I get roughly twice the battery life of my 1 year old Samsung S20 FE.

What's the camera like on the 6a
Have an S10 at the moment and wondering if the 6a camera is better.
Can trade in my s10 and with discount will cost £140 for the 6a

£79 discount + £170 trade in for my Pixel 4, is making this too much to resist. 🤔

Just reporting back now that I've had the Pixel 6a for a month. It's great. Battery life is fine - finish most days with >50%. Camera is great, everything else just works. I paid £319 and at that price it is an absolute bargain.

Looks like that discount code has finally expired. Anyone aware of anything that's still active?

Google are advertising they will have some black friday deals including on the 6a.
Nothing more detailed yet though.
So if you are willing to wait might be worth it.

I've had mine 3 months, that's about the battery life I'm getting too. I'm very happy with it, the fingerprint reader was a bit of an arse to begin with but they seem to have fixed it with one of the updates.

FWIW it usually takes a week or so of use (and perhaps install the most recent update) for the battery to optimise so don't stress too much if you're not getting 28 (lol) days off the first charge.

FWIW: Google are reducing the 6a from $449 USD to $299 USD for Black Friday (source: GSM Arena website).

No idea whether that will translate to aimilar deals outside the US though!

I've had a Pixel 6a for about a month and it's ok. The battery life is great, I usually go to bed with about 50% left. It doesn't feel as responsive as my old 3a and it's a bit too big/awkward to use/type with one hand sometimes. Fingerprint sensor isnt as good as the 3a either, just feels a bit laggy and I preferred having it on the back. Still, the camera is great and I got a deal which is only a few quid more than my old sim-only for a new phone with 50GB data plan so I can't complain too much.
