Or you can do it yourself for less with simple tool kits from ebay and third party screens, the quality of which may be OK or may be very much not OK.
Hnmmm thanks. More expensive than I thought for a repair - perhaps new phone time!
I had this exact problem and while I have replaced other screens with ebay kits I'm not sure it's so simple with the pixel 4a, you seem to need the display and screen which makes it much more expensive. For example https://store.ifixit.co.uk/products/google-pixel-4a-screen-genuine
I was looking into it to see if that is correct, but then the microphone and speaker stopped working (possibly related to the screen, I don't know) and the costs were getting to be similar to a new phone so I bought a £50 Moto G7 power from ebay. Slower and not a great camera but good for riding with as the battery lasts days.
The only problem with Google phones IME is that you have to send them off for any repair which takes like a week, whereas with other brands (inc Samsung) you can get someone to come to your house and fix it in their van outside whilst you wait.
Pixel phone are a bigger to fix and the parts are not cheap.
Trade in time
We used the iSmash people in Meadowhall for a 4a battery swap after ours swelled up and popped the case off the back. Excellent service, but cheaper than the screen swap.
Used to be a Moto G fan but this pixel is much better, the 6a sounds good.
I sent my 4a away to be repaired, and then immediately smashed the screen again.
Currently a refurb phone is less than a repair, and so I accept the cracks.
Just found out security support ends in November so I’ll upgrade then, broken screen looks cool anyway.
Nokia have a partnership with ifixit to offer some models repairable at home

I have a repairable Nokia.
I would rather it wasn't repairable and actually worked sometimes. It's a total lemon.
That's a Motorola and a Nokia back to back that have been borderline not suitable for purpose. Are phones getting worse?
My pixel 4a had a cracked screen for a while and was ok but stated running slow eventually.
It was a refurb and cost about £100 so not worth repairing.
Brought a new 6a for £260 instead.
Refurb, Grade B Pixel 4a'a £115. Any good mate?

Ebay the broken one, someone will want it for parts.👍
Looks good thanks. Phones are not something I pay big money for: iPad pro I use for surfing.
