We have condensation issues so are going to try a Drimaster PIV unit.

1) Can it be wired in to the lighting cicuit? If so happy days.
2) Do i need extra ventilation inside the house for forcing out the air or is the normal opening and closing of doors sufficient?
3) Is it worth getting the heated one?

Yes... Draws very little current. But I just ran it down a hole in the airing cupboard and used a standard 13 amp plug wall socket. I have mine on a timer.

If you can see daylight through the soffits in the attic that's usually enough but I installed some cheap plastic felt vents for good measure. I found leaving all upstairs doors open to enable air flow was needed to totally rid the bedroom windows of condensation.

Ignore the fan speed settings... I have a small 3 bed house and was told to run on speed 2. This did not clear windows. Upping the speed to 4 did the trick and no more moisture build up.

From what I have read the heated one is not worth the extra. Only takes the chill off anyway and just put up with a slightly cooler landing but no damp.

Make sure all light fittings etc in the roof space are sealed as you don't want the damp air recirculating back into the roof space.

There was a good thread on these a while back. I am sure you will find it if you search for it.

Overall, despite the unit being plasticy crap and badly made (very expensive for what it is), it does the job very well and in two years of running I have had no issues with damp/condensation on windows at all.

its funny isnt it. you spend ages making yr house draft proof to keep the warm in and then fit a fan in the ceiling to create a draft.

ours is a non heated version and works great.

Ok thanks everyone, all the extra switches and sensors seem a bit unnecessary, you can see if its effective and then just climb in to the loft and play around with the settings.
