They're amazing but expensive. Imagine the extra cost of labour involved in taking the shells off.

It's quite satisfying snapping them open and putting them in your gob though. I'll stick with the diy approach.

Funny how with a bowl of them, the last one you pick up is usually one of those evil totally sealed ones 😢

They leave the shells on to slow us down. If they arrived shelled already I would make myself sick.

I love the ones that only have a tiny split in the shell, the wife gets angry with them and discards like a fully sealed one. Doh, just use a half shell to prise the bugger open.

I now need a massive bag of pistachios! Thanks guys and gals.

I love pistachios, you can get extra large ones here in spain, and for the speed eaters shelled ones.

In fact i buy a selection of unroasted and unsalted nuts and toast them as i go along.  I have just finished a plateful, superb - macadamia, pecan, almonds plus a load more.

Expensive yes but worth every penny, or cent.

If you ever find yourself in business class on emirates they serve up a small dish of warm mixed nuts after take off to enjoy with your G&T or other drink of your choice. They comprise a mix of pistachios, almonds, Cashews and Macadamia’s, warmed and salted. Bloody lovely. I always look forward to my warm nuts when I fly Emirates.

Are the sealed ones poisonous, like what mussels are?

Cant believe that nobody has mentioned the delicious brown 'nut skin' found on the inside of the shell one opened....salty and delicious, the nut that just keeps giving!

Hmmm, 'nut skin' is a tad off putting term to use...........but try it!

They are my crack and I would gladly push people to the floor to get to them (Conditions apply, I mean, you have to be old and likely unable to defend yourself, I'd not push someone bigger than me. Yes, that sounds much better).

I continue to be tricked into buying non-salted ones, blurrrrrgggg!! Why keep them next to each other at the supermarket. I'm too giddy to read the label, I just grab and go.
