Does anyone own one of those Pinter brewing devices?

Are they any good, what is the beer like? Does it work out cheaper then buying beer from the shop?

I am into "proper" homebrewing personally so, the brewing-snob in me really doesn't see the point! The process is almost totally automated so you don't really have any input into the beers, and you won't learn anything. It is cheaper than buying beer from the shop though, given that a decent IPA could be £3-4 per can (not on offer) and a DIPA even more! Never tried a pint from one so couldn't comment on the beer quality, in theory though should be good as it's a fully closed system which removes a lot of the problems associated with home-brewing e.g. oxygen contamination.

I have a couple of mates who swear by them, though! Apparently the Pinter 2 is much better than the original (don't know if that's even still available) also the Co-Pinter add-on is a must have (as you can be brewing another batch whilst drinking the first).

I was bought one as a gift but had to send it back as it’s so huge it wouldn’t fit in my fridge unless I took out all the drawers, and then there wouldn’t be any room for any food! I think really you need a second fridge to run one. Plus, I don’t think the life of the beer was that long - maybe it was a week? I think it held 10 pints, which would be a lot for me to get through in a week, but not that big a contribution to a party with a bunch of people over. Seemed like a nice idea but didn’t logistically work for me.

I have two, they are both going back as all Pinter 2’s have been recalled due to a small number of them exploding…. They have allegedly redesigned them now and made some other improvements.
They do a wide range of beers, they taste okay to me but you do need space in the fridge and they only make ten pints so you just start getting into it and it runs out.
Other issues include cracked brewing docks, leaking taps, taps that you cannot undo from the body, running out of pressure after five pints so you can’t get the rest out, getting 90% foam, 10% beer…….. I could go on….

I’ll be selling mine when the replacements turn up.
