Picked up the new bikemobile yesterday, ply-lined, standard wheelbase, sliding side/double rear doors...

So, I'm planning a semi-permanent 2/3 bike rack with front fork quick release type attachments (something like these Saris Track Racks).
I'm not too keen on having the back ends flopping about so I'll probably buy a second rack and fabricate some rear-wheel channels from a surplus-to-requirements Thule-style roof rack.

It's going to be used for road and mountain bikes, so I'll need those Hurricane adapters for 15mm axels.

So, I'm looking for inspiration for other storage, modifications or general pimping with particular attention to wheel storage for road racing and storage lockers etc to stop stuff sliding around in the back.

And I know, I need a new garage door... 🙂

Thanks Dom, very kind of you... Email sent.

I've already been looking at a pair of side bars and roof rails, I think it'll finish the outside off nicely...

Those window deflector things, a mate put some on his caddy and they really make a difference, windows open and very little noise.

Be kind to cats 😆

You posted a pic of an estate car not a van 🙂 for all that you will need a proper van...

Look at vinyl floor tiles for the floor in the back.
The last thing you want is your wet and muddy bikes dripping all over the floor and making the inside of the van damp. With the vinyl tiles it's easy to keep the back clean.

Try signing up for the Caddy2K forum, there's a couple of guys on there who've built up some nice bike vans.

I am beginning to really like those caddys, almost to the point of saying "Sod the kids I want a van."

I'll be covering the floor with a vinyl material - I have a client that supplies them for horse box interiors so I'm sure they'll have an off cut that's big enough.

If I go for 2 x track systems, they can be arranged so one bike faces forward, one faces backwards, which takes up a lot less room, so there will be space for other stuff. And I'm thinking about finding some way of attaching spare wheels from the roof...

A friend with a Transporter made a sliding shelf/floor bed that slides right out for easier mounting/unmounting of bikes... Something like that might be awesome...
